As a visitor to the Network Integration Center (NIC), we would like to make you aware of some of our security procedures, access requirements, and safety procedures, that exist here:
Badges - Badges must be displayed at all times in the Network Integration Center (NIC).
NIC Escorted Visitors - Visitors must have a photo ID, sign in on the NIC Visitor Register, and stay with the escort. Upon exit, the visitor must sign out, and return the NIC visitor badge. A drop box is provided for badge return.
Packages-Briefcases etc. - Security concerns prohibit leaving packages or briefcases or other parcels/boxes/bags laying around the break area or lobby. They are subject for removal or destruction by GSFC Security or NIC personnel. Check with your escort if are bringing in such items.
Cameras - Require approval by the NIC Manager, NIC Security Manager, or Facilities Manager. Approval for cameras in secure areas must also be approved by the Site Security Officer/NASA.
Transmitting Device &endash; Cell Phones and 2-way Radios are authorized in general and office areas only. Cell Phones and 2 way Radios and are not allowed in Rooms C-27, C-32, C-115, 209 and 294B. Visitors with Cell Phones or 2-way Radios, who need to enter prohibited areas may turn them in at the NIC Security Office or use wall mounted containers (where available).
Hazardous Materials - All hazardous materials brought into the NIC must be cleared through the NIC Safety Coordinator or Management staff. All hazardous materials must be accompanied by a "Material Safety Data Sheet" (MSDS) form.
Other prohibited items - A prohibited items list is posted at the NIC entrance.
Fire Alarms - Should a fire alarm sound, please evacuate the building via the nearest exit. Evacuation maps are located throughout the facility. The assembly points for all evacuations are in the parking lots on the east and west sides of building 13/14.
Security Alerts - NIC Security Alert, will be announced via the public address system when an actual or drill security breach or terrorist alert is suspected. All personnel will follow the directions given. GSFC Security personnel will also be alerted if needed.
Remember, you are the most important player in ensuring your safety and security - please act responsibly. Should you note any safety or security problems while in the facility, or have any questions or concerns, please contact the NIC Safety Coordinator 6-4702 (Voice) or 6-4703, NIC Manager 6-4179 or Facilities Manager 6-0601.
All GSFC Emergencies ( First Aid, Fire, Ambulance, etc. ) - In the event of an emergency dial 911 from any telephone. Inform the NIC Security Officer at 6-1830 or 6-4703.
